Several metabolites visible in the urine have been associated with the gut microflora of animals. The structures of the most important metabolites, which are asociate with the metabolism of Phenylalanine, are shown below. The gut microflora plays an important role concerning the health of animals (symbiotic effects), whereby the gut microflora is influenced by food, by the environment, by stress, by the health of animals by drugs and more. Metabolites of the gut microflora are absorbed in the gut and excreted into the urine.
In this section, it is shown that the metabolites associated with the gut microflora have to be interpreted as pattern of metabolites to be able to discriminate normal changes of the gut microflora and abnormal changes of the gut microflora. |
